Thailand Smelting and Refining Co., Ltd. (Thaisarco) was founded in 1963. Thaisarco is recognized worldwide as an industry leader in the manufacture of tin, tin alloys and tin-related products.

From its LME registered Thaisarco and Phuket brands of pure tin to specialty alloys, powders and extruded products Thaisarco specializes in solutions tailored to meet its customers’ needs.

Processes and technologies cover the complete range of smelting of tin concentrates, refining of tin metal, manufacture of tin alloys and the production of a wide range of value-added tin related products.

The tin smelting operation started on July 29, 1965. Thaisarco became part of Billiton BV of the Netherlands, a member of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group in 1972. Total ownership of Thaisarco was then acquired by Amalgamated Metal Corporation PLC of the U.K., and Escoy Holding Company of Malaysia and Thaisarco has been a member of the AMC Group since July 1995.

Thaisarco was awarded the ISO9002 certification from - Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI) for the Quality Management Systems of its tin-lead solder and lead–free solder business in December, 2000. The Systems have further been upgraded and extended to cover the whole plant with ISO9001 accreditation from BVQI in October 2003. With a strong commitment to a clean and green environment, Thaisarco obtained ISO14001 accreditation from BVQI for the Environmental Management of the Tin Smelter in April, 2002
