Test Methods for Metal Powders

Laser Particle Size Analysis
Thaisarco operates a Beckman Coulter LS 13 320 Series Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyser for measuring particle size distribution. Using the Fraunhofer and Mie theories of light scattering, the LS 13 320 Series offers the highest resolution, reproducibility and accuracy within the particle range of 0.04 micron to 2000 micron.

Sieve Analysis
Thaisarco uses the Octagon 2000 sieve shaker as supplied by Endecotts (UK). The following certified sieves are available.

Apparent Density (AD) & Flow Rate
Thaisarco
uses a Hall Flow meter to determine the flow characteristics and apparent density of free flowing metal powders.

By interchanging the standard Hall Flow meter funnel with the Carney Funnel, the instrument can be adapted to determine the apparent density of non free flowing powders (but not their flow rate).
Determines apparent density as per ISO No. 3923/1.
Determines flow rate as per ISO No. 4490.
